Whether you are just starting out at University and looking for student jobs or employment or you have finished your degree and now need to look for that all important Student Career we are all facing the same problem. With the current economic climate it is getting increasingly difficult to find even a part time job to get you through. Many jobs for students are now either full up or just don't exise anymore. Job agencies and tempoary Student Employment

Originally I thought that this was by far the best method of finding easy employment which provided flexibility and should have been relatively easy to get a job. I was wrong! Drawing from my own experiences I did initially have sucess in finding a job, in fact I managed to get two jobs to cover the whole summer period. This is where the luck stopped. When signing up to job agencies they require that you sign a contract with them because technically you are working for them and not the places you are put in. You must make sure that you read all the contract and make sure that you are know what you are signing up for.

The suprise came when I signed the section of what looked like a huge benefit to me. It was called a 'travel scheme'. It professed to reduce the amount of tax pay by classing some of my payment as tax free. I quickly realised that this was not the case! I am currently in the process of taking them to court so cannot reveal too much detail but basically its all a scam! They take off money and then add a lower amount and everything is all basically a con. I was also not meant to be charged tax, but yes, you've guessed it, they got that wrong too and charged me tax as well.

The lesson here is to make sure you read everything and question everything you are signing if you are unsure. (Phew...rant over!)
