Where to stay and how to get there

Ok so once you have decided where you are going you need to decide how you are going to get there. You can take a plane, a boat, a train, a bus or you can even walk if you really want to. Whichever method you choose shop around to get the best prices. Personally I think the best place to check is here (get compare the market link from trade doubler).

Student Travel Discounts
Also, being a Student Traveller you may be able to get Student Discounts when you travel with certain companies. This will obviously help you save money. If you are between 12 and 26 the travel industry consider you to be a Student Traveller – this is great news for you because companies such as Rail Europe accepts Student Discount.
There are a number of Student Travel ID cards such as ISIC. This card is a globally recognised Student ID card valid in over 120 countries. It gives you access to an array of discounts on things like airfares, rail and boat tickets along with many other things such as restaurants and hotels. You can buy an ISIC card from a number of places. One such place is here

  • STA Travel and Student Universe are two very good Student Travel operators which give true Student Travel Discounts. These sorts of tickets usually offer a lot more flexibility than standard tickets.

Where to stay
When planning your trip you will obviously need to know where to stay. There are literally millions of different choices of where to stay – this could be a hostel, B&B, budget hotel and you should also consider camping. Your Student Accommodation obviously doesn’t have to be 5*, just consider it as a base and a place to sleep. You will have your best times when outside and living your adventure.

Hostels are the most popular places to stay for Student Travellers. They offer cheap accommodation with all the basics such as a bed, shower and a roof over your head. Some are offered from as little as £5 per night but be prepared for the basics – if you want luxury it is out there but at a higher price. Hostels also offer a very nice environment where you will meet other Student Travellers whom you can talk to and generally have a good time. I would recommend staying in at least one hostel on your travels just to experience what they offer.
If you want more information on the different types of accommodation out there use a search engine where there are millions of different sites offering a wealth of information.
