Student Travel HealthBeing fit and healthy is vital to student travellers. Let's learn how to avoid health hazards and about the intricacies of travel health insurance and international health care costs.
In some countries you may not need immunisations and shots in order to stay healthy. It is sometimes the case that even though the government doesn’t demand that you get injections you may still want to. You can do research on the internet or ask your doctor which injections you need for the countries you want to visit.
Whilst you may be used to westernised toilet manner and supplies of toilet paper it is more than likely that you will have to adjust to a totally different way of...erm...going to the loo. Countries like Greece do not allow you to flush toilet paper down the toilet, some other places do not use toilet paper at all. Places like these may just give you a bucket of water and, well, your hand!
A first aid kit is a must for student travellers. Ensure that you have adequate provisions for minor health problems for example plasters, bandages, antiseptic cream, hand wash, paracetamol and pain killers. You can also check with your doctor for advice on what other provisions you may need to take. For problems that are classed as worse than minor it is always best to seek the advice of health care professionals and visit the doctors or hospital of the country you are visiting.
ALWAYS get Student Travel Insurance when you go on a trip. If anything goes wrong and you do not have cover then you will be set for hefty bills. There are thousands of providers of Student Travel Insurance but I recommend checking here |
